Recipe template

Add your recipes from a spreadsheet

Have a notebook full of recipes? Type them into our free template in Google Sheets or Excel, then import them into the Sausage Guru app all at once.

Coming in the next app update. Spreadsheet import arrives in the next version of Sausage Guru on Google Play. You can start filling in the template now.

How it works

  1. Open the template in Google Sheets, Excel or Numbers.
  2. Add one row for each ingredient and each step, and repeat the recipe name on every row. The two example recipes show how. You can put as many recipes as you like in one file.
  3. Use units like g, kg, lb, oz, ml, tsp, tbsp or cup, or % for percent of meat weight.
  4. Save it as CSV. In Excel, choose CSV UTF-8 (Comma delimited) so characters like °C come through correctly.
  5. Get the file onto your phone: email it to yourself, or save it to Google Drive or Downloads.
  6. In the app, open the ⋮ menu on the Recipes screen, tap Import Recipes, choose your file, check it over, and tap Confirm Import.

Every row also starts with the recipe name. Rows starting with # are instructions; the app skips them, so you can leave them in.

Good to know

  • Ingredient names don’t need to be exact. If the app doesn’t recognise a name, it suggests the closest match, and you confirm each one before anything is saved.
  • Nothing is imported until you tap Confirm Import. If a row has a problem, the app tells you which line to fix.
  • The free version of the app holds up to 10 recipes. Pro has no limit.
  • Always weigh curing salts, and read our food safety guide.
